Hurricane Irene Tax Relief Updates: New Jersey & New York

New Jersey

As of September 7, 2011, all 21 counties in the State of New Jersey have been declared federal disaster areas.

New York

The State of New York declared the following counties as federal disaster areas:

  • Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Essex, Greene, Montgomery, Nassau, Orange, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Sullivan, Suffolk, Ulster, Warren, Washington and Westchester  

Businesses and individuals in these above referenced disaster areas whose tax returns and or estimated payments are due on or after August 26, 2011 have been extended to October 31, 2011.

The October 31, 2011 deadline applies to most federal, New Jersey and New York business and individual tax returns including the September 15th personal estimated tax payments.
